Swiss Ball improves muscle strength and performance

I am sure at some point or another we have all see one of these:

Whether it was in our office, at the gym or even on your favorite morning talk show. Therapy Balls or Swiss balls as they are also know have been around for years. The idea is to use the round service to force your core muscles to work harder. They can also be used to help with lower back and shoulder stretches.

Swiss Balls are not only a great addition to a healthy individuals workout routine, but are also used in rehab.

In recent article, the use of Swiss balls was shown to improve muscle strength and walking performance in patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS).

AS is a arthritic condition where the lower spine becomes chronically inflamed and over time may become fused. This will lead to a decrease in range of motion in the lumbar spine and hips. Can be diagnosed though blood testing as well as xrays. If you feel this is something you or a loved one may have please consult a physician.

If your interested in learning more about Swiss Ball exercises for AS as well as general fitness please give our office a call. We would love to help you.
