STOP Being Sedentery and Just Move

A recent study published in the annals of internal medicine

notes that total time sedentary through out the day is linked to mortality.

Mortality rates were highest for those with 12.5 hour or more of being sedentary.

This also includes any daily bout lasting more then 30 minutes at a time.

I try to state to patients the importance of moving around while at their jobs.

For the most part it is important to get up and stretch to keep flexible and maintain a normal range of motion.

Now with this study we also have learned it is important for general health, not just back health.

Take the time through out your day to take breaks.

Walk around the office, stretch and do some basic exercises.

We all have busy schedules, but I am sure the time is well worth your health.
